Salesforce announced today that they have hired Vivek Kundra as the executive vice president of emerging markets.Kundra served as the Chief Information Officer for the United States under the Obama administration from March 2009- August 2011. Basically, his job was to manage government IT- an $80 billion infrastructure! One of his biggest projects was to move the government’s IT infrastructure to the cloud. He launched the Federal Government strategy and cloud computing portal Apps.gov. He also launched Data.gov, “a site for providing access to raw government data.”Basically, this guy’s resume really speaks for itself!Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff says, “Vivek Kundra is an amazing technology visionary who opened the eyes of millions to the transformational power of cloud computing…His disruptive leadership is just what the industry needs to accelerate the social enterprise.”Seems to be a perfect fit for Kundra because his role at Salesforce is to introduce cloud computing to emerging markets.
